It is expected that the frequency range for the launch of 5G networks in the Russian Federation should be cleared before 2021, and from 2022 the launch of networks in million cities should begin in ANO Digital Economy.

Pavel Anisimov, Director for Industry Development of the Digital Economy Autonomous Non-Profit Organization, during the business program of the CSTB-2019 forum, presented an updated plan for the deployment of 5G networks in Russia.

“There is a national project“ Digital Economy ”, in which there is one of the federal projects“ Information Infrastructure ”, which includes issues of 5G development in Russia. Until the end of this quarter, colleagues from the telecom industry and experts should form the concept of 5G development in Russia. By the end of the year, they are expected to plan a frequency range clearing for the development of 5G. In the horizon until 2021, actual clearing of the range with parallel piloting will occur in those regions that will be called upon to participate in the pilots. 2022 is planned as a 5G deployment point in million-plus cities, ”said Anisimov.

Speaking about the factors of influence of 5G on the media industry, a representative of the Digital Economy Autonomous Non-Profit Organization noted that fifth-generation networks would create opportunities for consuming media content where they were not there before. “A connected car becomes an unmanned vehicle, whose passengers may not spend time managing, but spend it on content consumption. This is a new point of view, ”explained Anisimov. He added that in a philosophical sense, the program “Digital Economy”, in addition to improving efficiency, is aimed at creating opportunities for a person to “move from productive activities towards creative activities.”
