On November 2 and 3, 2020, the international exhibition and conference on technologies, standards and equipment in the field of microelectronics SEMIEXPO Russia was successfully held in Moscow.

713 specialists registered and attended the event, which combined an exposition of new equipment and materials for the production of semiconductor devices and components, as well as two busy days of the business program. Among the participating companies were the group of companies “Ostec”, Global Microelectronics, SVCS Process Innovation, Minatech, Eurointech, Mediana-Filter, Industrial Safety Technologies, SKTO PROMPROEKT, DB Schenker, Central Research Institute Electronics, Forum “Microelectronics 2021”, Technologies in the electronic industry, INRADEL competition projects and others.

Despite restrictions, including bans on international flights, the organizers managed to maintain a high level of foreign participation and to host the international event in a new hybrid format. Thus, all visitors of the exhibition were given the opportunity to participate in online meetings with leading foreign suppliers of equipment, chemical components and materials from Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Belgium and France in a specialized zone of ZOOM stations. In addition to the traditional business program at the exhibition site, speakers from Europe joined the discussion via videoconference. More than 30 experts made presentations and took part in the discussion of the most pressing topics for the industry.

Maxim Klemeshov, Project Manager of the ServiceAdviser, opened the business program on the first day of the exhibition with a practical seminar “Customer Experience Management: New Goals for Equipment Suppliers Service”.

At the session “Economy Digitalization as one of the Drivers for the Microelectronic Industry Development”, experts discussed growth points, market trends in Russia and abroad, as well as mechanisms and level of digitalization in various industries. Among the participants – Alexey Volostnov, partner of NEO Center, Karina Abagyan, Director for Strategic Development, PJSC Mikron, Oksana Shaimardanova, Head of Marketing and Business Development Department of JSC Zelenograd Nanotechnological Center, Roman Yakovlev, Director of Information Infrastructure ANO “Digital Economy”. The session was moderated by Dmitry Markov, CEO of VisionLabs.

As a part of the session “Semiconductor Manufacturing in a Pandemic: Challenges and Opportunities” speakers from Russia, Belgium and Germany shared their views on promising projects, as well as the difficulties that have arisen and await the industry in difficult times. Presentations were made by Emir Demirkan, Director of Advocacy and Public Policy, SEMI Europe Association, Anton Boyko, Ph.D., MIET, Anton Bolshakov, Marketing Director, Ostek Group of Companies, Pavel Seredin, Deputy CEO, BLM Synergy, Stefan Kester, Director of International Sales and Customer Relations for the Semiconductor and Solar Industry, DB Schenker. On the second day, Dmitry Sukhanov, Deputy Technical Director, Ostec EC, spoke with the topic “Heterogeneous Integration – Expanding Opportunities for Microelectronic devices Manufacturing”.

The International MEMS Forum was traditionally held within the framework of the SEMIEXPO Russia exhibition, but this year most of the speakers joined the conference online. The focus of the discussion in 2020 was dedicated to smart city solutions, industry 4.0 and the digital economy. The MEMS Forum was organized by the Russian Association of Developers, Manufacturers and Consumers of Microelectromechanical Systems (RAMEMS), Sovtest ATE, BusinessMediaRussia, Silicon Saxony e.V. (Germany).

For the first time at the SEMIEXPO Russia 2020 a virtual reality zone functioned with a set of simulators for specialists in the semiconductor and radio-electronic industries. Representatives of the company “Industrial Safety Technologies” made a presentation on the topic “Reducing the cost of launching equipment and gaining competitive advantages through the use of VR training”.

Traditionally, the second day of the SEMIEXPO Russia exhibition and conference ended with a PitchDeck session and an exhibition of projects participating in the INRADEL 2020 season. Young specialists presented 7 projects in the following areas: development of an automated chemical liquid etching unit for forming dielectric membrane structures, development of control and measuring equipment, development of biotechnical apparatus, method of modification of alloys.

The world’s leading technology companies and service providers for the semiconductor industry sponsored this year’s event. Among them are EV Group, SVCS Process Innovation, DB Schenker, American Elements, VAT, EBARA, PTW Europa GmbH, Green Technology Investments.
